Artist Trading Cards for AZ Centennial

Deadline Dec 15, 2011

Contact Artists’ Coalition of Flagstaff

The Arizona State Centennial Artist Trading Cards Project commences on August 15th 2011 and submissions will be accepted through December 15, 2011. Your work must be in the form of a trading card, 2 ½” by 3 ½ “ in any medium. These artist trading cards are original works of art, self produced by anyone of any age in the state of Arizona with the theme of the Arizona State Centennial. That means virtually any subject that pertains to the history and present life in Arizona, its breathtaking scenery and rich multicultural traditions. This is a chance for creativity on a small unique scale. Let your imagination run wild, using , but not limited to, painting, photography, collage, metal, fiber, ceramic, and glass. The only restriction is size. Participants can submit up to 10 cards and will be returned, after the exhibit, 10 different, unique; one of kind cards from 10 randomly selected other participants. One of the results of this project is to put Arizona artists in touch with each other and open lines of communication and facilitate dialogue between artists that is difficult in such a large territory as Arizona. To that end your contact information should appear on the back of each trading card. The sponsoring organization, the Artists’ Coalition of Flagstaff reserves the right to reject any cards not pertaining to the subject matter. There will be a touring exhibit during 2012 and submitted cards will be exhibited in art galleries in Flagstaff, Sedona, Jerome, Prescott, the Phoenix and Tucson areas and Bisbee. Upon completion of the touring exhibit you will be returned the same number of cards that you submitted from all different artists.

ART SHOW OPENS IN COTTONWOOD

“Celebrating our Differences”, featuring new works by our members, opens for a two month run on Friday, April 8. A reception is set for 6 to 8pm that evening, at the Pillsbury Wine Tasting Room in Old Town Cottonwood.

Last year’s show featured 20 EVAA artists and 45 miniature artworks. This year a larger format for the miniatures, art photography, and additional space for three-dimensional work, gives more depth and variety to the show.

Because this is a member’s only show, open to both amateur and professional artists, the entries will not be juried in. They will be judged, and cash prizes awarded to the winners. All pieces shown are for sale through the gallery.

The Pillsbury Wine Tasting Room and Gallery is located at 1012 North Main Street in Cottonwood. For hours and information, please call the Gallery at 639-0646.
